Ingredients

  • 2 cups nixtamalized corn dough (masa)
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup crumbled fresh cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 6 tablespoons San Marcos Mexican
  • Salsa Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil for cooking

Preparation

  • Divide the masa dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
  • Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of refried beans in the center. Fold and shape into an oval.
  • Cook the tlacoyos on a comal or skillet over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Add a little oil if you desire a crispier, golden texture.
  • Serve hot, garnished with crumbled fresh cheese, diced red onion, and San Marcos Mexican Salsa.
  • Enjoy as a delicious breakfast or dinner option.
